The Downtown Cabaret Theatre, which began operating in its current location in 1975, will cease operations after 51 years on June 28, following the final curtain of A Chorus Line.

The financial stress of operating after the City of Bridgeport sold the building in 2015 ultimately became unsustainable. We are heartbroken that, after entertaining more than two million people and helping create lifelong memories for generations of families, the Cabaret has reached this point.

If the theatre could run on goodwill alone, we would be the richest theatre on earth because of loyal patrons like you.

Could this closing still be averted? It would take either an annual contribution of $250,000 or for the City of Bridgeport to buy the building back and once again become our benevolent landlord. In that event, your donations would become part of a restart campaign rather than a closing campaign.

One final ask: please help us with the costs associated with closing the theatre by making a donation of any amount. Through the generosity of the Charitable Gift Funds of Jen, Cory, and Bob Donnalley, all donations will be matched up to $20,000.
