The Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport, CT is thrilled to be holding open call auditions for their upcoming production of We Will Rock You on Saturday, March 9th, and Sunday, March 10th at 263 Golden Hill St in Bridgeport!

Based on the music of Queen, We Will Rock You is set 300 years in the future in a globally corporate world without musical instruments. Planet Earth, now renamed Planet Mall, is controlled by the all powerful Globalsoft company and its boss, the Killer Queen, who has banned all non-computer generated music. A handful of rock rebels, the Bohemians, fight for freedom, individuality and the rebirth of the age of rock. Two young outsiders, Scaramouche and Galileo, cannot come to terms with the bleak conformist reality. They join the Bohemians and embark on the search to find the unlimited power of freedom, love and rock!
The songs of Queen with a book by Ben Elton. Elton fashioned this hilarious futurist comedy around more than 24 of Queen’s biggest hit songs including We Are The Champions, Radio Ga Ga, I Want To Break Free, Somebody To Love, Killer Queen, Don’t Stop Me Now, Under Pressure, Bohemian Rhapsody, Another One Bites The Dust and of course, We Will Rock You.

WHAT TO PREPARE:
- A 32 bar-cut of a song from the musical or in the style of Queen/We Will Rock You that showcases your voice
- Auditions will be accompanied; please provide your own sheet music
- A printed copy of your resume
- A printed headshot or recent photo
CALLBACKS ARE BY INVITE ONLY ON MARCH 10th
If you are invited for a callback, please come prepared for a dance call (movement clothes, dance shoes) and for side reading. Not all cast members will be called back; not everyone called back will be cast. Further details will be included in callback communications.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS:
The Downtown Cabaret Theatre is committed to inclusive and diverse casting. People of all races, ethnicities, genders, body types, identities, attributes, religions, and abilities are encouraged to attend. If a role does not require a person to be of a specific race, ethnicity, gender, body type or have specific abilities or attributes we will actively consider any one for the role.
GALILEO (Male-Identifying) A misfit who keeps hearing strange voices and songs in his head which deliver messages he can’t understand. Galileo won’t dress like a Ga Ga kid and has been caught trying to make music. He is confused and unaware that he is the one the Bohemians have been waiting for, who will lead them to the place where the last remaining live instruments have lain hidden for hundreds of years.
SCARAMOUCHE (Female-Identifying) Another misfit who also gets into trouble with the Secret Police, Scaramouche meets Galileo in hospital and they run away together. Her sharp wit keeps Galileo on his toes and gradually they fall for each other.
KILLER QUEEN (Female-Identifying) Killer Queen is a ruthless businesswoman and is in charge of Global Soft, the worldwide corporation which is responsible for the suppression of all live music. She’s power crazy and tough, as well as beautiful.
KHASHOGGI (Male-Identifying) He works for Killer Queen, getting rid of any original or creative musical thoughts and going after the Bohemians. His victims are sent to the Seven Seas of Rhye.
SECRET POLICE (Any gender identity) These semi-automated characters carry out the bidding of the Killer Queen and Khashoggi.
GA GA KIDS/TEEN QUEENS (Any gender identity) Living in a world of consumerism and downloadable music, the Ga Ga kids don’t notice their own soulless-ness.
BUDDY (Male-Identifying) Buddy is an old librarian and a hippy who has studied the sacred musical texts to the extent that even the Seven Seas of Rhye cannot entirely erase them from his mind. He’s a comic character who acts as a foil to Galileo and Scaramouche towards the end of the play.
THE BOHEMIANS (Any gender identity) A group of rebels, determined to fight against Global Soft and its downloadable music. Their base is Tottenham Court Road Tube station, and they have taken the names of musical heroes from the past, such as Paul McCartney, Cliff Richard, and Britney.
BRIT (Male-Identifying) and OZ (Female-Identifying) Two of the Bohemians who are intent on discovering the secrets of live music, and who believe that someone will come who will show the Bohemians the way. When they find Scaramouche and Galileo they are unsure at first, but are eventually persuaded that Galileo really does have strange musical lyrics in his head over which he has no control. When the Secret Police attack the Bohemian hideout, Brit is killed and Oz is captured along with the other Bohemians.
