ABOUT THE DOWNTOWN CABARET CHILDREN’S THEATRE

This is not your average children’s theatre. When Aladdin is Elvis, A fairy Godfather is a violin-playing Marlon Brando, and a wicked stepmother is played by a man. Throw in a swinging wrecking ball ride, a punk rock princess, and a Prince Charming who is anything but charming and you’ve got the Downtown Cabaret Theatre’s award-winning Children’s Theatre. Drawing from the influences of British Pantomime, Italian Commedia, and American popular culture, The Cabaret Children’s Theatre is a style all its own. The Cabaret has been entertaining and inspiring children and families for more than 35 years with original adaptations of classic fairy tales with a “Cabaret twist” that is always unique, always imaginative, and always unexpected. And while producing high quality, highly entertaining stories for children is our primary focus, the Cabaret Children’s Theatre has become a destination for audiences of all ages and garnered praise from children and adults alike. Each production rehearses for 4 weeks Monday-Thursday evenings and performs Saturday and Sunday afternoons. We would love to see you at our open-call auditions July 23 beginning at 5:00pm.
