Press Conference 2015

The Downtown Cabaret Theatre Press Conference

The award-winning Downtown Cabaret Theatre (DCT) held a press conference on March 12th, celebrating its upcoming 40th Anniversary Season. The event began with the announcement that the Bridgeport Theatre Company will be merging into the Downtown Cabaret Theatre operations fully, in the form of a new division within the company that will officially launch this summer, called the Downtown Cabaret Main Stage Theatre. This will join the existing Children’s Theatre and Main Stage Concert series.

Hugh Hallinan, DCT’s Executive Director of the Downtown Cabaret Theatre and Eli Newsom, Bridgeport Theatre Company’s Artistic Director were the speakers at the Conference. They were joined by the Honorable Bill Finch, Mayor of Bridgeport and Paul Timpanelli, President & CEO, Bridgeport Regional Business Council.

At the conference Newsom explained “We plan to continue to offer high quality, affordable community theater here in Bridgeport, including musicals, plays and special events just as we have been for five seasons now, utilizing volunteer actors surrounded by a mix of a professional and volunteer staff.” Hallinan ended the conference by saying “The last thing I ever imagined was that BTC would be the answer to an intended re-start of Main Stage Theatre at DCT.  Well here we are and I can’t think of a better way to do it.”
