DTCAB-WORKSHOP-LOGOAbout Downtown Cabaret Theatre Workshops

Downtown Cabaret Theatre, with its long and rich tradition of producing the highest quality children’s theatre, is thrilled to continue an educational series for performers grades 1-10. Our goal is to offer a variety of performance-based classes from on-camera technique to musical theatre dance to improvisation and beyond. We are so excited to continue our growing series workshops in May 2017, including: Children’s Company 101 and Improv 101.

KIDS WORKSHOPS:

In “Improv 101”, learn the fundamentals of improvisation and how to be open and spontaneous on stage and in the real world! Taught by Christy McIntosh-Newsom, students will learn basic improv techniques using famous improv games, and divide up into teams to compete in an improv tournament for friends and family on our last class! Improv is an absolutely essential part of on-camera auditioning and being a more present and open performer!

In “Children’s Company 101″, our rising stars will learn scenes and songs from our current Children’s Company production taught by Director/Choreographer and star, Lance Gray! This session, participants will learn the blocking and choreography from our production of “Cinderella,” to be performed by family and friends on our stage, using our “Cinderella” set, on the last day of the session.
