Changes In Latitudes is the country’s premier tribute show to the Mayor of Margaritaville, Jimmy Buffett.  This nationally acclaimed band roams the country bringing their dancing conga lines and “Trop Rock” fun to every venue they play.  It’s the ultimate beach party that’s good clean fun for all ages.  Over their sixteen-plus year history, the band has travelled from Maine to Barbados, Cape Cod to Chicago.  From the 900-seat Walt Disney Theaters aboard the Disney “Magic” and “Wonder” cruise ships, to the National Hamburger Festival in Akron, OH, in front of 6500 fans looking for their “Cheeseburger In Paradise”, they’ve set attendance records in quite a few locales.  Members of Jimmy Buffett’s “Coral Reefer Band” have both performed live and recorded with Changes In Latitudes.

Changes In Latitudes has thrilled audiences with their amazingly authentic reproduction of the Jimmy Buffett concert experience.  Steve Kareta mimics Jimmy’s casual storyteller style, while these world-class musicians take you on a musical cruise around the sun-drenched tropical islands of the Caribbean.   The group travels with a complete tropical stage set-up that exactly mimics Jimmy’s from years past.  You can expect to hear such classics as “Margaritaville”, “Come Monday”, “Cheeseburger In Paradise”, “Volcano”, and, of course, “Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes”, as well as other crowd pleasing Buffett-show staples like “Brown Eyed Girl”, “Southern Cross”, and the Alan Jackson / Jimmy Buffett hit “It’s Five O’clock Somewhere”

Simon and Garfunkel* by Scarborough Fair

Pays for itself on the third visit!

Jeb Guthrie and Jock Guthrie, The GUTHRIE BROTHERS, knew the first
time they played a Simon & Garfunkel song that they had a natural and
almost spiritual connection to it. “Our voices seemed to blend effortlessly
into that S & G signature sound, and the overwhelming audience reaction to
our first tribute performance confirmed our feelings,” Jock says. “Since that
first performance, we’ve worked to perfect our tribute to these two amazing
artists.”

The New York-based musicians perform this tribute with startling authenticity
in an “unplugged” acoustic style. The brothers have been singing together
for as long as either one of them can remember-–a major reason for the
perfect blend of their harmonies. Both men play acoustic guitar and sing.
“The music that we play is truly an extension of who we are,” Jock says. “Our
philosophy is to do songs that we feel directly connected to, and we can
trace these connections back to shared experiences and feelings from our
childhood in Green Bay, Wisconsin.”

“We think this is the reason we can be so faithful to the spirit and sound of
whatever period or type of music we’re playing– including our own music. We
play together as one,” Jeb says.

The Guthries’ original music received national attention with the release of
their self-titled, debut album. The album garnered extensive airplay on both
Americana and Country radio stations. About the album, Billboard magazine
said, “Many stations will find the well-written, heartfelt lyrics and wonderful
harmonies a welcome addition to their airwaves.” The album has been re-
released and can be heard and purchased online at the iTunes Music Store,
Spotify and Rhapsody

This adaptation of George Orwell’s dystopian novel depicts man’s fate in a society where “Big Brother” is always watching—where everything that is not prohibited is compulsory. Both powerful and disturbingly provocative, this story continues to resonate in modern day society. To quote the author: “I do not believe that the kind of society I describe necessarily will arrive, but I believe that something resembling it could arrive. The moral to be drawn from the dangerous nightmare situation is a simple one: Don’t let it happen. It depends on you.”

A Message from Bridgeport Mayor – Joe Ganim CLICK HERE

Come and join us on GIVING DAY, March 1st, from 5-7pm for an Open House!

In true Cabaret fashion, we’ll be hosting a BYOB Happy Hour! We’ll provide live entertainment from some of our amazing singers, and from 6:30-7pm, you’ll even get a sneak peek inside of rehearsals for our upcoming production of Jesus Christ Superstar! We will have Donation Stations on site to make giving your donation easy.

GIVING DAY POWER HOURS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED!

Hover over the squares below for details on each power hour the Downtown Cabaret will be participating in.

What is Giving Day?

Giving Day is a 24 hour (12:00am-11:59pm on March 1, 2018) “Give where you live” fundraising competition hosted by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation.  Giving Day inspires and empowers our region to raise as much money as possible for local nonprofit organizations in just 24 hours through online donations.  Last year Bridgeport had 53 nonprofits participating (the second highest amount!) in Giving Day! Prize money will be made available to amplify charitable donations, excite nonprofits and donors to participate, and keep the momentum going throughout the day. Whether you give $10 or $1,000, your donation will make a difference!

Why is the Downtown Cabaret Theatre participating?

Currently, 85% of the Downtown Cabaret Theatre’s operating costs are covered by ticket sales alone. Generally, that figure is just 55% for most non-profit theaters. Proceeds from Giving Day will help to ensure that we can continue to provide the professional-quality production values to which our audiences have become accustomed, and also ensure that our ticket prices remain affordable, especially for the community’s students and seniors.

How do I Donate?

Donations are only eligible when received during the 24-hour donation period (12:00am-11:59pm on March 1, 2018) through the FCgives.org website. We know how busy life can get, so we wanted to make sure we gave our donors a number of ways donate.
